Learning the Sounds
Smoke Detectors
Newer homes are required to have smoke detectors in multiple locations throughout the home but some older homes may not have been required to have them installed at the time. As a suggestion, at the minimum your home should have a working smoke detector on each level to help keep you and your family safe.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Carbon monoxide alarms are a requirement in all new home construction but were not in homes built years ago. As a suggestion, if your home has anything powered by natural gas or propane or if you have an attached garage you should have a working carbon monoxide detector on each level of your home to help keep you and your family safe.
Make an Escape Plan
Every home should have an escape plan in case of a fire. You may only have a matter of minutes or seconds to get out if a fire starts in your home so be prepared. Below is a document to help you create an escape plan.
